I'm not gonna lie, 2017 for me creatively, sucked. It was a year long barren spell where I think I can count on one hand how many new pieces of work I produced (big shout outs to Cath Shea and Lisa Hulme for letting me paint some big pieces in town though!). Normally I dust myself off and crack on, but it just never happened. So I took a step back towards the end of the year and decided to ring the changes and figure out a plan of attack.
I'm going back to square one. My happiest was when I was creating stuff I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it. I revelled in Free Art Friday and engaging with people through that. It was all on my terms. So its time to go back to that hence the 'Drunk Wolf 2.0' on Twitter. Everything had gotten stale, so a rejig is/was needed. It just so happens this resurgence coincides with the 150th birthday of St. Helens, my hometown. Rather than use long unnecessary words to explain it, I've done a list instead: 1) Free Art Friday - I miss the buzz of this, so its coming back. As its St Helens' birthday, every week in 2018, I'm going to be dropping a piece of work. It may be painted, it may be a digital print but will always be St Helens themed. They may however, not always be dropped in St Helens (Blame my Walk 1000 Mile Challenge for that). My birthday present to St Helens! Here's to 150 years more you saucy mare. 2) Affordable Artwork - This one is a year long experiment. With Free Art Friday the idea is to make art more accessible. This is an extension of that. Throughout 2018, any artwork will only cost anywhere between £10 and £100 (excluding commissions as they're a different kettle of fish). So keep your eyes on the new site as I'll only ever be listing artwork for sale. Incidentally, first piece is up for £80 HERE. 3) Charity prints - There are some awesome charities in St Helens doing brilliant work, so at various points throughout this 150th year I'm going to do some short runs of prints with proceeds going to them. These will be cheap and will hopefully help a good cause. And thats it. I've tried not to waffle. Yeah it sounds like a lame new years resolution, but its been on my mind for a few months, its not something I've brain farted out as a result of a clock striking twelve. Plans were already well in place. That being said, LETS DO THIS!
